Memorial Day Tribute

This past Memorial Day allowed us a day off from work to enjoy the freedom our troops provide for us. It was also a day to remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for that freedom. Here at home in Alabama one can always tell when a patriotic holiday has arrived. Our streets are lined with flags, our churches, whose doors boast yellow ribbons, honor our service members and preach patriotic sermons, and our news and history television channels provide an array of tributes throughout the day.

While enjoying this holiday, I wondered if my brother, an active duty Army Reservist currently serving in Iraq, would be celebrating it too. It turns out that he and his unit, the 314th PAOC, did take time to remember their fallen comrades. Below is a picture of Bryan (front) during their Memorial Day flag ceremony. Please take a few moments today to pray for our active duty military service members.

Dr. Langham Sounds Nice

A prayer has been answered. I was accepted to the Educational Leadership Ph.D. program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham last Friday. I start school in about 2 weeks. I plan to work full time and go to school part time. The best news is...UAB will pay for 18 credit hours per year!!!! YAY!!!!

Langham's On The Move

Judd and I have moved several times throughout our marriage. If you've read the previous post, then you know that we have been in a different city on each of our anniversaries. We'll this year will be the same. We found a house last Friday that we want to rent. We will be moving into our new place on May 15th, 2009. We have been anxiously awaiting finding a place to call our own. As mentioned in other posts, we've been living with my parents while we look for our new home. Although we are so grateful to have had the opportunity to stay with them, we are SO ready to be on our own. I think a little independence will go a long way.

We've chosen to live in Homewood, AL. This is a young, hip, and friendly city. Our house is technically 70 years old, but has been completely renovated. It has all brand new appliances, hardwood floors, windows, and a new master bathroom. The home has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a fenced in yard for our dog, Cole. We couldn't be more excited! See pictures below.
